Building Trust Through Expertise: Our Presentation at Cardiff University

Recently, we had the privilege of attending Cardiff University to deliver a presentation about who we are as a business and the work we do, particularly focusing on fire doors and cladding. This opportunity came as a result of the excellent standards demonstrated on our Fairwater campus project for BESL, where our commitment to quality and compliance stood out.

Why This Matters

The invitation was extended by Gareth Lewis, the Clerk of Works on the Fairwater project, who was impressed by our procedures and knowledge. Clerks of Works play a vital role in project handovers, ensuring quality and compliance. Building strong relationships with these professionals is essential because they help uphold the standards that define successful projects.

The Presentation

Andrew Davies, Contracts Manager at IWC, held the session at Cardiff University which was structured as follows:

  • 10 minutes introducing the Institute of Clerks of Works and Construction Inspectorate (ICWCI) and its importance in the industry.

  • 15 minutes on cladding, including a short video to illustrate best practices.

  • 60 minutes dedicated to fire doors and current industry regulations—a topic critical to safety and compliance.

The feedback was overwhelmingly positive. Attendees appreciated the depth of knowledge shared and expressed interest in future sessions on carpentry-related topics.

Key Takeaways

  • Quality and Perseverance: Our tried-and-tested procedures continue to set us apart.

  • Continuous Improvement: We are committed to learning and evolving to meet industry standards.

  • Building Trust: Leaving the forum with a group of professionals reassured about our dedication to delivering excellence was a proud moment.

Looking Ahead

We’re excited about the possibility of returning to Cardiff University for future presentations. Opportunities like these allow us to strengthen industry relationships and showcase the values that drive our work: quality, compliance, and innovation.
