IWC is the leading Carpentry contractor throughout Wales and the South West of England, covering a range of industry sectors including health, education, residential, government and retail. Our scope of work is vast, encompassing supply-and-fix carpentry packages with values of up to £2.5 million per contract. 

Established within the Construction Industry as “preferred carpentry contractors“ for many of the market leaders, having built up an outstanding reputation based on the quality of service, can do approach and providing work of the highest standards. 

Our consistent growth is attributed to, a firm commitment to quality, environmental awareness, positive management and effective service provision, ensuring we address the needs of our clients, supply chain and workforce.

New Office Opening

2023-onwards

New Office - After 16 years in our Pontyclun office, we have moved to a new office around the corner providing a much larger workspace for our IWC team.

Expanding workforce - We have 19 full-time employees, 100 subcontract workforce including 60 BM Trada Fire Door Installers, 26 SSSTS/SMSTS Trained Operatives and 12 Apprentices. We are proud to have over 42% of our employees as female, offer a Living Wage and flexible working.

Social Value - Our work for charity continues and we expand to help the local young people and communities through our social value strategy which encompasses social, economic and environmental benefits to the area.

Highest Credit Rating - IWC hold the highest credit rating compared to all our main competitors, as checked on creditsafe.


2017-2022

£12.5million Turnover - In 2022, we increased our annual turnover to £12,500,000.

30 Years of Trading - 2019 marked 30 years of successful trading at IWC, from the family attic to £10,000,000 turnover, we’ve come a long way!

£42,000+ Raised for Charity - We’ve raised over £42,000 for charities including Young Minds, Breast Cancer Care, Teenage Cancer Trust, British Heart Foundation, Latch and more.

2011-2016

Highly Accredited - We continue to maintain our excellence and quality, achieving new accreditations including ISO 14001 (2012) and Construction Line (2015).

Largest Commercial Project - In 2012, we secured our largest commercial project to date - St David’s 2 Cardiff.

Expanded to South West of England - IWC expansion commenced with the Portishead Apartments by Crest Nicholson, establishing us as a leading sub-contractor in the Bristol and South West region.


2005-2010

Brand New IWC - In 2007, after 10 years in our first offices we upgraded to a bigger premises to meet the demands of the growing business. Shortly after, we rebranded from Ian Williams Carpentry Limited to IWC, giving us the fresh look it deserved.

£5.7million Turnover - 2007 saw our largest turnover to date at £5,700,000.

Highly Accredited - We gained a variety of new accreditations including CHAS (2006), SSIP Worksafe Contractor (2006), ISO 9001 (2008) and BM Trada (2010).

First Commercial High Rise Development - Prospect Place

1999-2004

First Commercial High Rise - IWC landed it’s first commercial high rise development in Cardiff Bay, Prospect Place.

Expanding Workforce - Over the 5 years we hired our first 2 Contracts Managers, one being Dave Healy in 2004 who is still proudly with IWC today. We also hired Loredana Williams as Director and welcomed our first Site Manager, Kerry Jenkins.

First Office - Although the converted garage was quaint, we needed a bigger space! Thrilled to get our first office space in Talbot Green in 2001.

Incorporation - 1999 marked Ian Williams Carpentry moving from a Sole Trader to a Limited Company


1989-1998

Expanding Workforce - By 1998, IWC is proud to have 30 carpenters working on projects across South Wales.

First Major Private Developer - IWC works with George Wimpey in 1992, their first major private developer and a huge milestone for the business.

Family Business - Loredana Williams joins the team to help manage the accounts, the attic in the family office is converted into an office in 1990, later moving to the garage in 1997.

IWC Started - Our Managing Director, and Founder, Ian Williams starts his own business with 3 carpenters by his side in 1989.
